The end of rainy season...and the begining of typhoon season

Rainy season has finally ended, after three long months of almost non-stop rain, the air has become cooler and less humid, the vending machines are heated instead of refrigerated, the women are wearing tall boots with short denim shorts...and scarves, which seem to be very popular here on both sexes no matter what the weather is like.

But the most important thing that the end of rainy season signals is the beginning of typhoon season! My mother very accurately asked "Well, isn't that just like rainy season but with wind?" Exactly.

But in other places a nasty, rainy, windy, day might keep hoards of people from leaving the house. They might, say, opt for a movie or the gym or some in door activity. Not in Tokyo. No matter what the weather, what the time of day, what the area, the crowds are out in full swing. It makes running errands in Harajuku on a rainy Sunday afternoon a sea of umbrellas, a virtual rainbow of rubber goulashes and above all, a huge mess...
